From doubling the horsepower and tripling the torque of a 2.0L engine (which is pretty small in displacement), that is an impressive feat. This shows from an engineering standpoint that the FA20 has such a wide range of tunability. What Crawford Performance basically did is they took the FA20 motor of a BRZ, rebuilt it, added a turbo and voila…450hp & 500lb-ft of torque. In this episode of Drive, a garage called Crawford Performance did just that plus a little more. But along with the positive reviews came the negative feedback. When the BRZ was came out in March 2012, many people were raving about the steering feedback, balance, and overall handling of this car. In terms of performance, this translates to better handling and overall balance that driving enthusiasts look for. The Boxer Engine layout where the cylinders move horizontally is used in order to lower the center of gravity and reduce excess weight. Stock from the factory, this engine produces and adequate 200hp & 151lb-ft of torque. The FA20 engine is a 2.0L 4-Cylinder Boxer Engine. The chassis, suspension set-up, and it’s raw nature of the car made it perfect for the enthusiast in mind. By today’s standards, that may not be a lot but what it lacks in power more than makes up for it in how it handles and holds itself. A perfect balance of power and low-end torque for daily driving. Powered by a 3.0L V6, it produced a modest 274hp & 210 lb-ft of torque. From regular maintenance to replacing the timing belt, it’s as easy as maintaining an Acura Legend at that time.ĭespite the practical and reliable nature of the NSX, no compromises were made to the performance. Unlike other cars that it competed with (Ferrari 348/355, Lamborghini Diablo) it was also very easy to maintain. The NSX was also the first production car to use a full aluminum chassis and the first to showcase Honda’s (then new) V-TEC engine.
